ABSTRACT. – The variation of hail in the hydrographic bassin of Bârlad. Few considerations are made about some caracteristics of the hail phenomenon in the hydrographic bassin of Barlad river: the period of time, the diurnal regime and the dimension of hail grelons. The most frequent presence of the hail is registered between 6 and 15 minutes, with frequences between 20% at Plopana and 64,8% at Vaslui. A presence over 16 minutes was registered only at 5 of 9 meteorological stations situated in the hydrographic bassin of Barlad and its proximity. The maximum frequency of the class 16-30 minutes has been registered at Vaslui (13,2%). The average existence of the hail fall in Barlad bassin varies from 4 minutes at Plopana to 10 minutes at Vaslui where the urban topoclimat created the best premises for the genesis of the phenomenon. During the day, the higher probability of hail is between 18-19 hours, followed by the the period 16-17 hours and then 14-15 hours. The grelons’ dimensions are regulary small, with diametres under 5 mm during the first part of the spring and during the fall and over 5 mm in the second half of the spring and in the summer.
