ABSTRACT. The influence of the floodings from the down sector in romania on the quality state of the agricultural fields; case-study – the west part of the Timis-Bega Plain.
On April 2005 at the meteorological station Timişoara there have been registered the highest quantities of rainfalls from the whole series of observations (1874-2005), of 154.4 l/mp in 24 hours. In that year in the south-west of Romania it had rained between 14 and 28 April, which determined a flooding which held one month time. There have been affected partially or totally about 28.000 ha of agricultural lands.
On the context of a general view on the state of agricultural lands for different categories of uses, before and after the production of the hydrical mentioned events, there have been made a grouping of land son 10 divisions (classes). Each class has an interval of 10 points, from the 1st class- the most favourable one (91-100 points) to the 10th class – the less favourable one (1-10 points).
In natural conditions, there can be seen an unequilibrium situation, with fields which are good for arable and yard purposes, in favour to the lands used for hayfield and pastures. The causes of this way of grouping are multiple, conditioned both by the environment and of the own characteristics of the soils.
The evaluations made after the hydric events in 2005 specified a lowering of the state of quality of the lands with minimum 10 points of bonitation for all the lands and the cultures made on arable lands. Only pastures and especially hayfield have benefited of slow lowering of the points. Most of the lost points in the classes 1-3 have been grouped in classes 5-10.
