ABSTRACT. - The Chlorosodium Mineral Waters in Sibiu County, Lasting Touristic Protection and Capitalization. One of the problems of the water resources’ research in the Transylvania Depression is the one related to the salted waters which are present in different forms and grades of capitalization.

Unfortunately, the research of these resources has always been neglected, except for the territory of Bistriţa-Năsăud County, where Chintăuan Ioan, a Doctor in Geology researcher, has inventoried through prolonged field studies a number of 40 settlements with springs of salted waters. The study was insignificant in other counties of the Transylvania Depression, while the specialty literature shows very rare appearances of salted waters, though they can still be found in many locations.

A first example would be Sibiu County where, besides the salted lakes from Ocna Sibiului, where considerable quantities of salted waters are billeted, there are other locations on the county’s territory, some arranged and used for the balneary tourism, like the springs from Bazna, and in other cases, completely abandoned, like those from Miercurea Sibiului and Sărături Băi next to Agnita. Other appearances of salted waters are going to be searched for on the field, some of them missing, like those from Avrig and Sărata in the south of the county.

The study made in the last period shows the value of these salted waters, as well as the way they could be capitalized from a touristic point of view, without neglecting the environment component, by protecting these resources subjected to some negative factors, like their clogging or sweetening.

Thus, besides their inventorying after the model of those from Bistriţa-Năsăud County, it is important to indicate clear solutions for protecting these valuable resources of salted waters.

Keywords: spring of salted waters, salt lakes, clogging, sweetening.
