WATER QUALITY ASSESMENT IN PEATLANDS FROM NORTHWESTERN ROMANIA: IAZ AND LA PODURI CASE STUDIES

ABSTRACT. Water quality assessment in peatlands from north-western Romania: Iaz and La Poduri case studies. Present study is focusing on a few peatlands located in north-western part of Romania, as part of a larger project oriented to implement a series of restauration works in degraded peatlands. Water scarcity have transformed some of these peatlands and the loss of biodiversity could be triggered when the hydrological balance is not at the optimum value. Water quality in peatlands is also a good indicator for the health of these wetlands. In order to evaluate the present state a series of in-field measurements have been made using different tools and instruments.
